Although our Spring Break plans for the zoo and family hikes were shot, we managed to pull together a gorgeous weekend.
Mady and I had an all-day date on Saturday. Down the street and around the beautiful lake, just a couple miles from our house, we found our new favorite restaurant, in the middle of solitude. Well, the location isn't new, but this version of the restaurant is new to us. It changes every few years. (I fully get that - owning restaurants is tricky business!) I hope this one will last a while, it is so good! If you are foodie-ish and live in Bellingham, you must go. We recommend the portobello burger on fresh brioche with goat cheese and roasted red peppers. Delish.
We wandered around the antique store, and used up gift cards at a book store. We happened upon a Fiesta Ware sale, and the third place setting of my collection made its way home with us too. We enjoyed coffees and the gorgeous sunshine, and Mady styled me for spring.
We played countless family tournaments of Settlers of Catan, and had nachos for dinner. We booked our summer vacation to Yosemite and Tahoe. We looked at the awesome lodge we'll be staying at for an upcoming business event, on the Hood Canal. (Doesn't this look awesome?) We slept, all through the night, with not a single person sick.
Today we witnessed a favorite little girl (belonging to my favorite friend) get baptized, and celebrated with her family afterward. What an amazing weekend for her! Not to mention, they made Mady and I a vegetarian lunch and a latte. (More portobello burgers! We are so lucky! I never expect or assume anyone will make us special foods since we choose to be vegetarians, but it is so thoughtful and sweet when they do. We are SO appreciative!)
After that, finishing up the spring cleaning and alternating rounds of laundry and Settlers. We ended the afternoon by giving up our little cat. More on that later, but because all parties involved were so gracious, it wasn't too terribly hard to do.
A lovely weekend indeed!
